About Bumi Sehat Foundation
Yayasan Bumi Sehat is a not-for-profit organization of committed families, teachers, midwives, doctors, nurses and caring citizens from many countries. They advocate for the reproductive rights of displaced, marginalized, low-income women of all cultures, and their children.

In October of 2003, Yayasan Bumi Sehat opened a Cooperative Health Center in the village of Nyuh Kuning, Ubud, Bali. Yayasan Bumi Sehat works hand in hand with the communities it serves in order to establish sustainable health care, educational projects and HIV/ AIDS prevention programs. In this way it nurtures a more peaceful world at a grassroots level.

In Bali it is achieving a higher standard of maternal and child health through culturally sensitive prenatal and postpartum care, birth services and the support of breast feeding. By promoting natural family planning it empowers families who may have no access to pharmaceutical methods of birth control.

Yayasan Bumi Sehat works in cooperation with Yayasan IDEP to raise support and spread awareness for communities throughout Bali.

Cooperative Health Center Store

The Yayasan Bumi Sehat (Healthy Mother Earth) Foundation has been providing free prenatal and postnatal care, birth services, breast-feeding support and other services to marginalized and impoverished women in Indonesia for many years. Its services are offered free or on an ability-to-pay basis, to every family regardless of background. No one is ever turned away.

While there is no fee for the center’s services, the foundation does have ongoing costs. A cooperative store has been established as part of the health center in order to meet some of these costs. In exchange for the center’s services the crafts producers of Bali, especially those who have not been able to earn a living since the October 2002 bombing, can exchange a wood carving, painting, woven blanket, batik, or anything else they themselves make. The items donated are available for sale in the coop store with all proceeds going back to the center as financial support to maintain and sustain the health center’s services.

Please come see the Yayasan Bumi Sehat Co-op Health Center Store, which is located at the Health Center in Nyuh Kuning, Ubud, Bali, or visit the Bali Cares Store located on Jalan Hanoman No.42 in Ubud to see the showcase of products produced by this foundation and several others Bali wide.
