IDEP Foundation | Helping People to Help Themselves - Forest

  • Caring Forest for the Sustainability of Water and Ecosystem

Aware of the importance of forests as a water catchment area, encouraged the community in Yehembang Kauh to carry out reforestation at some crucial points, such as river banks and Hutan Belajar areas. Local communities manage this planting area to cultivate various Jembrana endemic plants. IDEP Foundation has supported and accompanied local communities intensively since 2012.

  • Explore the Forest, then Replicate It

Floods became a seasonal disaster experienced by the community in Sumberklampok Village. Over time, this disaster got bigger until the worst happened at the end of 2021, which caused several houses to be damaged. Those who live near the forest also experience a crisis of access to clean water. Even more days, the drought present made the water crisis increase.

  • Hutan Belajar: Being Harmonious Through Education and Conservation

Begins with concern over the land-use change in West Bali Forest, IDEP Foundation and Basebali created the Hutan Belajar program to save the forest through conservation and education. After more than nine years, both local organizations were fighting for forest conservation in the West of Bali. It started from the Hutan Sekolah program which had a positive response from the local community, then continued in a bigger program called Hutan Belajar.

  • Nengah Sudiasa Creates an Oasis in the heat of Sumberklampok

Sweat was pouring down, and foreheads continued to wrinkle as we walked through the village of Sumberklampok. Even though the time was 08.00 AM, the heat and scorching sun had been stinging since it appeared on the eastern horizon. The bright sunlight also enveloped Singaraja-Gilimanuk street. But we can still find shade when we enter the natural gate that is so beautiful belonging to Nengah Sudiasa.

  • Post-Harvest Management Effort to Increase Product Value

For more than 9 years, IDEP Foundation continues to develop activities and training about environmental conservation efforts in Yehembang Kauh village. This continuity effort implemented with permaculture and disaster management approach based on community. Therefore, the first step to creating a village with community resilience based on permaculture is to develop a family garden.
