The CBDM department at IDEP is continuously developing new culturally appropriate and accessible methods to disseminate knowledge on community disaster preparedness. These include training on how to identify risks and threats to the community. As a direct result of these trainings community members develop community risk maps, which are posted in public areas within their communities. Local facilitators are recruited along with local partners who assist with the socialization and ongoing capacity building of their own communities. In this way new people are trained who in turn are able to support their own communities in the ongoing process of disaster preparedness. Click here to learn more.
