Hundreds of thousands of survivors were still homeless a year after the tsunami, and wood for building has become a precious commodity in Aceh.

Illegal logging is rife throughout the region, with one group of loggers openly felling trees right behind the GreenHand Field School. To the GreenHand project aims to train local illegal loggers in more sustainable income generating skills.
