Where IDEP Works

When IDEP began there were very few active NGOs on Bali, as the island was considered an area of Indonesia that was well developed economically. IDEP’s founders understood that despite its thriving tourism industry, Bali was still facing critical environmental, social and economic problems, many of which were hidden by rapid development.

People from all over the world have encountered the cultural and biological diversity of Indonesia through Bali. This makes Bali well positioned as a center for global awareness about the challenges faced by the people of Indonesia. Our location on Bali increases IDEP’s ability to generate support for our programs, which then support projects across Indonesia. Bali’s central location within Indonesia is also very conducive to running successful national scale trainings and project dissemination/ networking.
